Dear Parents,
Since our initial opening, we have been working diligently to create a dynamic, inclusive, and engaging environment for all members of our school community. I am delighted to share some of the exciting developments and achievements from the first term here at Lumio.
Wishing our community a restful and joyful break. Enjoy your time with family and friends, and we’ll see you on the 7th of January.

Campus Update
We are making significant progress on the development of our campus, particularly the outdoor areas and sports facilities. While the timeline for some of our projects has been affected by the month-long concrete strike, we are pleased to report that we have managed to maintain momentum. Despite these challenges, we were able to secure concrete deliveries the very day after the strike ended, even though the waiting list stretched into 2025.
To ensure the safety and well-being of our students, we have chosen high-quality flooring material manufactured in Germany, which is free from harmful substances. This is a deliberate choice to ensure a safer environment for our children, particularly when compared to other materials that may not meet the same safety standards.
Please note that the dates mentioned may be subject to change in the event of further delays, such as adverse weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
Football and Basketball Courts: Scheduled for completion by 23 January.
Padel Courts: Set to be completed by 10 February.
All of the sports facilities are being constructed with the highest-quality materials, meeting professional standards to ensure the best possible experience for our students.
We are awaiting updated timelines from our contractor for the development of the Outdoor Learning Area, which will include the Social and Recreation Zones, and Herbal Gardens. We anticipate completion by mid-March.
Additionally, the Tipi houses for the Social and Recreation areas have already been delivered to Cyprus.
All our playground equipment, including the much-anticipated zip line, has arrived in Cyprus. The playground equipment has been acquired from KOMPAN, a leading provider in the industry, ensuring that it meets the highest safety and quality standards.
Some examples of the playground equipment can be found here:
The architectural drawings for the Secondary School has been finalised and approved for our opening in September 2025. We will be sharing more details with you in our January newsletter!
Thank you for your continued support as we work to enhance our campus and create exciting opportunities for your children. We will keep you updated on our progress and look forward to sharing more development news in the months ahead.

Babushka Tree Decorating Lumio Tradition
Our students were introduced to a new holiday tradition here at Lumio—decorating our Christmas tree! It was a heartwarming experience for our school community.
Throughout the week, each student was given a special star to decorate. These stars represented each child’s creativity and festive spirit. To make the occasion even more magical, Ms. Donna read a Christmas story which set the scene for the activity. During the story each child had the opportunity to hang their beautifully decorated star on our school tree. These are now proudly displayed in our school courtyard as a wonderful representation of the warmth and joy our students bring to Lumio.
ASP Roundup
Our Term 1 After-School Programmes (ASPs) were a great success, with students engaging in a wide variety of activities. From creative arts to STEM and sports, the term offered something for everyone!
Here’s a quick look at what was on offer: Choir, Reading Club, Archaeology, Robotics (Various levels), Maths Clubs (Grades 1-9), Tech Explorers: Build & Code, Leathercraft (Grades 4-9), Simple Machines and Mechanisms, Badminton, Arts & Crafts, Sculpting and 3D Creation, Global Citizens, Orchestra, RoboBasics: First Steps in Robotics, and STEAM Design.
Students created exceptional work across the board—from stunning leather craft pieces and artwork to working robots, some enjoyed singing while others learnt to play badminton, each activity showcased their skill and creativity.
Looking ahead to Term 2, we will offer even more opportunities. The full list of new programmes will be available on Clipboard from 24 December to 5 January. Please book your child’s ASP during this time here.
Important Reminder:
With the new timetable for Primary and Secondary students, the ASP programme will remain as per Term 1’s offering. Students will attend staff-provided activities, some of which are free, while others may have a cost.
We will be opening an After-School Care programme for up to 12 students, the cost of which will be Euros 230/month for 3 days a week or Euros 300/month for 5 days a week. The programme will run until 18:00 daily.
