Lumio Students Shine at Robotex Cyprus 2026

By 2 July, 2026No Comments

Students from Lumio Private School proudly represented the school at Robotex Cyprus 2026, one of the country’s largest educational robotics competitions. This year marked a significant milestone for our Robotics Programme, with the number of Lumio teams doubling compared with last year.

Students from Grades 4 to 10 competed across a range of robotics categories, demonstrating engineering design, programming, problem-solving and teamwork. Throughout the competition, they displayed creativity, perseverance and confidence, applying the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout the academic year.

A standout achievement came from our Grade 9 team, Nikita and Roman, who secured Second Place in the Best of the Best – Enhanced Line Following category, finishing just behind an older, more experienced team. Their result may qualify them to represent Cyprus at Robotex International in South Korea later this year.

Across the competition, Lumio students achieved excellent results, with many teams finishing among the top three in their respective categories. These achievements reflect the students’ dedication, collaboration and willingness to challenge themselves through practical STEM learning.

Beyond the medals, Robotex provided an invaluable learning experience. For many students, it was their first opportunity to compete at an event of this scale, explore innovative engineering solutions, learn from other teams and experience the excitement of the wider robotics community. Competitions such as these inspire students to continue developing their skills while building confidence, resilience and a passion for innovation.

At Lumio, we believe that experiences such as Robotex are a natural extension of classroom learning. They encourage students to think critically, work collaboratively, solve real-world problems and develop the resilience and independence needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. These qualities reflect both our commitment to outstanding STEM education and the values of the International Baccalaureate.

The greatest success of the weekend was the enthusiasm our students brought home. Alongside their well-deserved awards and achievements, they returned inspired to continue learning, creating, experimenting and setting themselves even more ambitious goals.

We would also like to thank our parents for their continued encouragement and support. Their partnership plays an important role in creating opportunities for our students to grow as future engineers, innovators and lifelong learners.

Congratulations to every student who represented Lumio at Robotex Cyprus 2026. We are incredibly proud of your commitment, determination and outstanding achievements.
