Happy children, learning together!
Mr Colin’s Column
Welcome from our Head of School!
Colin Sinclair
Head of School
I am thrilled to be joining Lumio Private School as the founding Head of School. Since my appointment, I have been extremely busy getting to know the team and working on creating a superb team of international educators to begin work in August. I am really excited by the quality of educators we have appointed, who bring with them a tremendous range of knowledge, skills and experience of different international curricula and educational systems.
The Senior Leadership Team are busy working on the policies and procedures that will shape how we work in partnership with parents and stakeholders.
I will keep you updated in each issue on the development of the school campus, our curriculum and after-school programme offerings; importantly Elena Aldridge will be sharing our plans for our students health and wellbeing.
Health and Wellbeing
Our students’ Health and Wellbeing will form part of our core values at Lumio School, aiming to prepare students to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens.
We will ensure the wellbeing of our students through a strong support network, including Homeroom Advisors, Heads of Houses, Wellbeing Counsellors, Designated Safeguarding & Child Protection Committee members, Special Educational Needs specialist staff, student representatives and Parent Committee representatives.
Over the next few newsletter issues, we will be sharing with you how we will be supporting this through our curriculum, the establishment of our Student Voice and ongoing student support.
We are looking forward to welcoming our students in September with a positive, can-do attitude and a growth mindset!
Campus Update
Our classrooms are taking shape!
We have been watching with anticipation as the primary building takes shape. Over the last few weeks the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); electricity; and dry walling have been installed. The framework for the elevator pit is in place, while a few of our classrooms have been fully constructed allowing the contractors to follow the same design specification throughout.
All the dirty preparatory work has finally been completed, the progress of which was very difficult to see while being done. Everything will now move very fast and will be much more obvious to see. – Michalis Michael (Architect)
