Assessment Process 2026-27

Students will be invited by the admissions team to participate in an English language test (non-native English speakers), and a CAT4 assessment. Our younger applicants will be offered an observation assessment and an interview. Parents will receive an email inviting your child(ren) to attend these assessments.

Please select a date and time on the calendar provided for these sessions. On completion of the assessments, the family and child(ren) may be invited to an interview depending on further requirements. Assessments will be conducted at our school campus. Please contact us if you require any further information.

Application

Each student’s application form and report card(s) will be assessed by our Admissions Team. Please ensure that you have completed all mandatory fields and uploaded the report cards, all passports and your child(ren)’s birth certificates to start the assessment process.

  • Grade 1: a nursery report card, if your child(ren) are attending / have attended school (translated into English by parents);
  • Grade 2: Grade 1 report card (translated into English by parents);
  • Grade 3 and above: the last two years of report cards (translated into English by parents);
  • All grades: Any report cards you may have for this academic year, e.g. Term 1 or 2 (translated into English by parents);
  • MYP and DP programme: Conduct/behavioural report by Head of School / Principal (this must have the school logo, school stamp and Head of School/Principals signature).
  • DP programme only: English Language Proficiency Certificate – Notarised: Non-English Native Speakers or students coming from a non-English speaking school – optional.
  • All grades: Reports relating to specific learning needs – psychology (EdPsych) reports, speech / occupational therapy, or medical requirements: Child (if applicable) (Official English translations will be required – either by the institution/psychologist referenced or by an official translation agency).

Grade 1

  • An observation assessment
  • An individual and family interview.

Children applying for entry into Grade 1 will participate in an observation session conducted by our Admissions and Primary School Team.

Families will then be invited for an interview with our admissions team.

Grade 2

  • Assessment of report cards – Where outcomes indicate consistently low attainment, attendance and/or effort, the application may be declined at this point.
  • An in-class trial day
  • An on-site English assessment during the trial day
  • An individual and family interview

The English level assessment –

  • is set according to the age of each child and whether they are attending primary or secondary school; and
  • assesses the English language level of each child.

Families will then be invited for an interview with our admissions team.

Please note: If a student does not attain the level of English proficiency required for their year group to access the curriculum effectively, they may not receive an offer from the school.

Grades 3 – 5

  • Assessment of report cards – Where outcomes indicate consistently low attainment, attendance and/or effort, the application may be declined at this point.
  • On-site English Assessment (for non-native English speakers).
  • English Proficiency test, Students must pass the required level before moving on to the CAT4 assessment, please find level requirements in the English level tab
  • CAT4 (Cognitive Ability Test) Assessment
  • Trial Day
  • An individual and family interview

Grades 6 – 10

  • Assessment of report cards – Where outcomes indicate consistently low attainment, attendance and/or effort, the application may be declined at this point.
  • On-site IDAT Assessment – This is a standardised test designed to evaluate students’ reasoning, problem-solving, and academic aptitude across key skill areas.
  • Trial Day
  • May include an on-site Maths and English assessment (only if required)
  • An individual and family interview

Grade 11

  • Assessment of report cards – Where outcomes indicate consistently low attainment, attendance and/or effort, the application may be declined at this point.
  • On-site IDAT Assessment – This is a standardised test designed to evaluate students’ reasoning, problem-solving, and academic aptitude across key skill areas.
  • Trial Day
  • May include an on-site Maths and English assessment (only if required)
  • An individual and family interview
  • Students applying to join the IB Diploma Programme in Grade 11, will be expected to be interviewed by the relevant Academic school representative and to discuss subject choices.

Please note:

  • Students will attend this in person at our school campus in Acheleia.
  • Where there are exceptional circumstances, we may, at our discretion, offer an online observation and interview as an alternative. These are decided on case-by-case.
  • All students must complete our admissions process as set out in our admissions policy to be considered for a place at Lumio Private School.
