Our pedagogical approach is designed to cater to the individual needs of each learner, ensuring that every student can achieve their full potential. This approach includes the ADVISOR framework, which guides teachers in coaching, mentoring, and facilitating learning in partnership with students.
Learning Approach
The Advisor Framework
Teachers at Lumio School coach, mentor, and facilitate learning in partnership with students using the ADVISOR framework. They are tasked with nurturing a supportive and stimulating environment, providing students with the tools to explore and understand the world around them. This structures effective learning over time and may not be completed in each lesson but used to guide overall progress.
Students are encouraged to be curious, reflective, and proactive in their educational journey. They are seen as co-constructors of knowledge, actively engaged in their learning process, and supported in making choices that reflect their interests and strengths.
Our Pedagogical Approach
Our pedagogical approach is designed to cater to the individual needs of each learner.
Enquiry-Based Learning
We encourage students to ask questions and explore topics of interest through investigative projects and research activities, fostering a sense of curiosity and a love for learning.
Differentiated Instruction
Our teaching methods are tailored to meet the diverse needs of students, providing multiple pathways for them to access and engage with the curriculum. Flexible grouping and personalised learning plans ensure that every student can succeed.
Collaborative Learning
Group work and peer-to-peer learning opportunities are facilitated to encourage students to share ideas, challenge each other, and work towards common goals, developing communication and interpersonal skills.
Technology Integration
We incorporate digital tools and resources to enhance teaching and learning, using educational software, online platforms, and multimedia to support different learning styles. Digital literacy and online safety are key components of our curriculum.
Reflective Practice
Students are encouraged to reflect on their learning experiences, using journals, portfolios, and self-assessment tools to track progress and foster a growth mindset and a culture of continuous improvement.
Experiential Learning
Hands-on learning experiences are provided through experiments, field trips, and real-world projects, connecting classroom learning to practical applications and real-life situations, promoting active engagement and deeper understanding.
Global & Ethical Perspectives
Students learn about global issues and cultural diversity, encouraging ethical decision-making and social responsibility. We foster an understanding of interconnectedness and global citizenship.
Responsive Learning
Ongoing assessments inform instruction and meet students’ evolving needs. Timely, specific, and constructive feedback is provided, with teaching strategies adjusted based on student progress and feedback.
